Administration of the Fund is made possible by Teton Board of REALTORS® . • TCSD Housing Project

An investment in our public schools is one of the best ways to ensure a bright future for Jackson Hole.

Teton County School District #1 (TCSD) not only provides extraordinary educational opportunities for our children and support for local families, it also serves as a keystone of the community.

But we need your help. Last year, more than 60 TCSD staff members resigned from the district and the number one reason given was a lack of affordable or attainable housing. That’s nearly 10% of the district staff lost in a single year. At the same time, our community is growing with some studies estimating that student enrollment could nearly double in the next decade.

How can you stop teachers from leaving and ensure that every child has the extraordinary education they deserve? Join us in supporting TCSD Staff Housing.

This exciting project kicks off in the 2023-2024 school year with the first of three planned 24 unit low-cost rental complexes, the first of which is now in the design phase and soon to break ground. Each building will contain one, two, and three bedroom units with storage, onsite parking, and shared outdoor space. The buildings have been designed for sustainability, livability, and low impact on the surrounding community.

$16 million in SPET funding has already been secured for phase one of this project, but additional funding is crucial to ensure that subsequent phases and housing opportunities can move forward quickly enough to meet the critical need our staff and teachers face. With your help, we can ensure that every TCSD teacher and staff member has the opportunity to build a career and future here, bringing their amazing talents to serve our students, and strengthen our schools for years to come.

Charlotte Reynolds, TCSD’s Executive Director of Communications and District Services, put it best. “The future of our schools and the quality of education in our community depends on the district’s ability to attract and retain great teachers. Providing attainable and sustainable housing is one of the best ways we can do that.”

Donations to TCSD Staff Housing can be made through TBOR's Community Housing Fund, or through the Fund for Public Education, TCSD’s nonprofit school foundation. Learn more about this project at FundForPublicEducation.org and please give today.

  • Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Teton Area, incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 1995, builds safe, decent, affordable homes for the working families of our community. Teton Habitat is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Though we receive technical, branding and training assistance from HFHI, our operations are guided by a local board of directors. We are responsible for raising our own operating and construction funding.

We build homes using primarily volunteer labor with materials purchased or donated through local or national partnerships. Our houses are sold at no profit to qualified buyers making less than 80% of the Area Median Income with a zero-interest loan provided by Teton Habitat.

Prospective homeowners are carefully selected based on three critical criteria: need for housing; ability to pay a monthly mortgage; and willingness to partner with us to do the work. Home buyers are required to volunteer 500 hours of “sweat equity” towards the completion of their home. Home buyers are also required to complete financial education and homeownership education classes.

Teton Habitat most recently completed, on-time and on-budget, 24 townhomes in partnership with the Jackson/Teton County Housing Department. This was our largest project to-date.

We break ground on our next project in the spring, 2022. Partnering once again with the Housing Department, Teton Habitat will be building 18 townhomes in three phases. We will announce our homeowner selection application process later this summer.

Since 1995, Teton Habitat has built and sold 57 homes. Currently, there are 54 families with 120 children living under Habitat-built homes.

Stable, affordable housing is critical to the health and happiness of the homeowners and our community. Your donation to Teton Habitat will change lives!

  • Depot Square Project - Driggs, Idaho

Teton County Idaho Joint Housing Authority

The Teton County Idaho Joint Housing Authority (“Teton Valley Housing Authority'') is an independent agency formed by the cities of Driggs, Victor, Tetonia, and Teton County, Idaho, that facilitates the development of diverse, permanently affordable housing options for the Teton Valley community. The Authority’s Housing Supply Fund is used to build permanently affordable housing. Other contributions to the Fund may include public, private, and nonprofit sources, including philanthropic gifts.

The Teton Valley Housing Authority is pursuing the development of permanently deed-restricted affordable housing in Driggs and Victor. The 34-unit Depot Square mixed-use rental project will be the first to break ground in 2022 in Driggs. This will be followed by affordable housing development on lands donated by the City of Victor and Teton County. The Housing Supply Fund will provide any project proforma gap funding necessary to ensure permanent affordability. Once construction is complete, affordability restrictions compliance will be managed by the Authority. Tax-deductible charitable gifts to the Authority’s Housing Supply Fund will allow the Authority to expedite these projects and address the crisis-level shortage of affordable housing and its effects on the local economy, society, and environment.

The Teton Valley Housing Authority and its partners take a regional approach to addressing the community’s housing needs. To that end, the Authority has partnered with the Teton County Wyoming Affordable Housing Department in funding and steering an updated regional Housing Needs Assessment (HNA) for Jackson Hole, Teton Valley, and Star Valley. Data from this updated HNA will be used to guide the Authority’s priorities and respond to regional issues.

Thank you for considering a donation to support construction of deed-restricted affordable housing in Teton Valley!
