Community Housing Fund Details

With support of Jackson’s escrow community, each time an agent orders a title commitment, all Agents, Buyers and Sellers will be asked:

Does the Agent, Seller or Buyer intend to designate a contribution to the Teton Board of REALTORS® Community Housing Fund at closing?

Every dollar donated to the Teton Board of REALTORS® Community Housing Fund supports the design, development, and construction of affordable housing. Administration of the Fund is made possible by Teton Board of REALTORS® . In turn, TBOR’s commitment to affordable housing is leveraged by the expertise of not-for-profit, affordable housing developers with a demonstrated track record of success.

  • TCSD Housing Project

An investment in our public schools is one of the best ways to ensure a bright future for Jackson Hole.

Teton County School District #1 (TCSD) not only provides extraordinary educational opportunities for our children and support for local families, it also serves as a keystone of the community.

But we need your help. Last year, more than 60 TCSD staff members resigned from the district and the number one reason given was a lack of affordable or attainable housing. That’s nearly 10% of the district staff lost in a single year. At the same time, our community is growing with some studies estimating that student enrollment could nearly double in the next decade.

How can you stop teachers from leaving and ensure that every child has the extraordinary education they deserve? Join us in supporting TCSD Staff Housing.

This exciting project kicks off in the 2023-2024 school year with the first of three planned 24 unit low-cost rental complexes, the first of which is now in the design phase and soon to break ground. Each building will contain one, two, and three bedroom units with storage, onsite parking, and shared outdoor space. The buildings have been designed for sustainability, livability, and low impact on the surrounding community.

$16 million in SPET funding has already been secured for phase one of this project, but additional funding is crucial to ensure that subsequent phases and housing opportunities can move forward quickly enough to meet the critical need our staff and teachers face. With your help, we can ensure that every TCSD teacher and staff member has the opportunity to build a career and future here, bringing their amazing talents to serve our students, and strengthen our schools for years to come.

Charlotte Reynolds, TCSD’s Executive Director of Communications and District Services, put it best. “The future of our schools and the quality of education in our community depends on the district’s ability to attract and retain great teachers. Providing attainable and sustainable housing is one of the best ways we can do that.”

Donations to TCSD Staff Housing can be made through TBOR's Community Housing Fund, or through the Fund for Public Education, TCSD’s nonprofit school foundation. Learn more about this project at FundForPublicEducation.org and please give today.

  • Jackson Hole Community Housing Trust

The Community Housing Trust has been housing community members for over 30 years. Our goal is simple – to develop quality homes so that snowplowers, nurses, teachers, post office workers, guides and those who contribute to our quality of life have stable housing that enables them to stay. The housing crisis is not just about affordability; it is about the survival of the workforce that makes this special place function. We’re courageous, determined, show up with creative solutions and won’t stop until our housing crisis is solved.

On Deck: At the upcoming Nelson Drive project, the Community Housing Trust and Bridger Teton National Forest have an opportunity to develop affordable rental housing for essential employees in Teton County and ensure personnel and staff stay in Jackson Hole to protect the 3.4 million-acre forest that makes our town great. On just 3.5 acres, we will build 36 affordable rental homes in thoughtfully designed duplex and triplex buildings. One-third will be dedicated to Forest Service employees, ensuring that the people who protect our lands can live in the community they serve. The remaining homes will serve qualified households who keep our community strong. Nelson Drive represents a new model for public/private partnership that was made possible when the Department of Agriculture issued the first 30-year Special Use Permit in the nation to the Housing Trust. This partnership leverages land contributed at no cost with the Housing Trusts expertise. This is our chance to honor what we value most, investing not just in housing, but in the people who make this valley whole. With your help, construction can begin in spring 2026.

    Project Details:

    • 36 Affordable Rental Units in 14 buildings; a mix of one- and two-bedroom units.
    • Employees of the BTNF will have the first option to rent one-third of the units.
    • Development Team: CLB Architects, Agrostis Land Planners, Nelson Engineering
    • Modular construction will help keep costs low without sacrificing design or durability.

With the generous support of realtors, buyers and sellers through the TBOR Community Housing Fund, we can keep our critical workforce in our community and protect the essential services that make Jackson the home we know and love.

  • Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Teton Area, incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 1995, builds safe, decent, affordable homes for the working families of our community. Teton Habitat is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Though we receive technical, branding and training assistance from HFHI, our operations are guided by a local board of directors. We are responsible for raising our own operating and construction funding.

We build homes using primarily volunteer labor with materials purchased or donated through local or national partnerships. Our houses are sold at no profit to qualified buyers making less than 80% of the Area Median Income with a zero-interest loan provided by Teton Habitat.

Prospective homeowners are carefully selected based on three critical criteria: need for housing; ability to pay a monthly mortgage; and willingness to partner with us to do the work. Home buyers are required to volunteer 500 hours of “sweat equity” towards the completion of their home. Home buyers are also required to complete financial education and homeownership education classes.

As of January 2025, Teton Habitat has started construction of the third and final phase of 18 townhomes on E Kelly Ave. The Parkside at Benson-Brown Station development is a partnership between Teton Habitat and the Jackson/Teton County Housing Department.  All 18 deserving families have been selected to purchase these homes.

Stable, affordable housing is critical to the health and wellbeing of our homeowners and our community. Your donation to Teton Habitat will change lives!

  • Jackson/Teton County Affordable Housing Department

Jackson/Teton County Affordable Housing Department is currently partnering on six projects that will bring 189 new Affordable and Workforce homes to the market over the next few years.

Purpose: The Housing Department is a joint Town & County department tasked with partnering with private sector developers to build new Affordable and Workforce housing. To do this, the Department typically provides land for new developments in exchange for deed restrictions. Currently the Department is providing land for six new developments that will create 189 new Affordable and Workforce Homes. The Department also provides down payment assistance to members of the local workforce who are buying a non-deed restricted home in exchange for a Workforce deed restriction being recorded on the property at closing. Gifts to the Housing Department will be placed in the Housing Authority Supply Fund for land acquisition for Affordable and Workforce development and down payment assistance for local working households. Current projects include King Street Condos, Mercill Condos, Kelly Place Condos, Jackson Street Apartments, Flat Creek Apartments, and 445 E. Kelly Avenue Townhomes.
