Testimonials

We bought our home in Rafter J in 2007. Owning a home and having a stable, comfortable place to live has meant that we could grow our careers, pursue our passions, and participate in the economy and community in Jackson. The heart of Jackson lies in the people who make this place tick - the unique business owners, artists, healthcare workers, teachers, and so many others who have dedicated themselves to creating this community. Lose the people, lose the sense of place. Yes, the mountains will always be here, but the hole could become hollow if Jackson doesn’t course-correct now.

We have watched home prices skyrocket. We have young, professional friends who live in rundown, cramped conditions. This is not sustainable. We don’t want to feel “privileged” to own a home – we want the same opportunity to be open to all people who make this community so vibrant.

We are at a juncture in our life where we are ready to pursue other opportunities. As we prepared to sell, we wanted to find a way to do it as ethically as possible. We know what happens when homes in middle class neighborhoods start selling for $2M – property taxes go up and second homeowners move in. We were able to sell our home to a local Jackson family who will help anchor the neighborhood and keep it whole. Beyond that, a gift to the Community Housing Trust allows us to give back a portion of our good fortune!

By pooling a portion of the proceeds from the sale of our home with donations from other buyers, sellers and agents, our money can be leveraged to create affordable housing. We don’t want to be part of the problem. We’d like to leave this community knowing it will be a place that all residents can thrive.

As a realtor in Teton County, I wanted to get involved with this inspiring initiative to be part of the solution. We have the opportunity to not only make a difference ourselves, but to encourage our clients in the community to do the same. Together we can all help.

Over thirty years of experience has taught me there’s no silver bullet to solve the workforce housing problem in JH, but the Community Housing Fund is a piece of the puzzle that will help a great deal. I’ve been intimately involved with the Jackson Hole Community Housing Trust organization since 2001, helping the mission to provide more deed restricted housing to preserve the vital local fabric of our community. The Community Housing Fund is a fantastic complement to the Housing Trust, and it’s a privilege to be the first Founding Member of this new Fund. I hope all Buyers, Sellers and participating real estate agents will see the greater community value in contributing to the Fund at each closing table.

Over the past 10 years, I've built my real estate career helping local people buy homes in Jackson Hole - many times helping them into their first home or helping them trade up to buy a bigger home for their families. Unfortunately, that is getting harder to do in our current real estate market and I'm saddened as I see many long-time locals forced to move out of our community. I'm thankful for this opportunity to continue helping locals obtain stable housing through the TBOR Community Housing Fund and am proud to be a Founding Funder of this great community endeavor!

I am thrilled to be a Founding Member of the Community Housing Fund! The sustainability of our vibrant community depends on affordable, stable housing. So many of us moved here for the mountains and the natural beauty, but what truly makes this place special is the Community. In the 30 years I’ve lived in Teton County, home prices have escalated, and so many of our hardworking, talented community members have left, relocating to places where they can afford to rent or buy a home.

This fund is an opportunity for all parties in a real estate.

As a Realtor for 20 years and a Jackson Hole local I know how to find homes for people but when it started to become non existent and out of reach for so many of my local friends, my children’s teachers and or our essential workers I knew I had to be part of making a change. It is a dream come true to be a Founding Member of the The Community Housing Fund in Jackson Hole as I know the positive impact it will have for everyone in our community. With every home or land sale transaction all agents, sellers and buyers can make a difference by donating to fund affordable housing in Teton County. What a dream it is to live in this beautiful community and together, I sincerely hope we can ease the never ending concern for these locals, by making this Fund a successful endeavor!

I am very proud to be a founding member of the Community Housing Fund and believe this is the perfect vehicle for buyers, sellers, and agents to support organizations at ground level, providing housing for our community. A strong community is one of the most essential parts of what makes a place truly special, and I'm hopeful this fund will start to see real traction, creating real results.

The Community Housing Fund is a logical way to give back as a Realtor/Buyer/Seller in Teton County (WY & ID). As one who contributes 10% of her commissions to charity anyway, this just brings the donation "home".
